aurora labradorite necklace
The Aurora Labradorite Necklace is named after the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights. It features a double terminated crystal shape bound in leather with a leather lace necklace.
Labradorite is a mineral in the feldspar family that often appears an unassuming dull gray or green hue until the light hits and a rainbow of colors shine through. The iridescent rainbow effect, called labradorescence, is the product of light being refracted through microscopic twinning layers of inclusions in the stone.
Inuit folklore tells a story of a hunter attempting to release the lights with his spear from these magical looking stones found on the coast of what it now known as Labrador, Canada. Not all the lights escaped, leaving behind traces in the rocks.
Each FMMTJ piece is handmade using natural materials that will all have their own personalities - imperfections in stones and leather are welcome here. They are not considered flaws and do not compromise the durability of the design. To learn more about how to care for your jewelry and the materials please visit our INFO page.
